The 5 reasons I’m in love with breakfast and why I’ll never go without it.
I’m one of the lucky ones. I found my true love at very young age and it’s a love so deep, I would never be willing to part with it. Breakfast is my soul mate. It’s lively, adventurous and highly dependable.
You’ve probably heard that if you’re going to skip a meal, breakfast is not the one to forego. For me, I don’t even want to consider my life without that first meal of the day.
Here are my 5 reasons I will always enjoy a good breakfast:
No. 1: A slow moment in the morning.
Breakfast isn’t nearly as fulfilling if I don’t give it the respect it deserves. A rushed first meal feels like it never even happened. I prefer to wake up a little bit earlier to savor the 10 or 15 minutes I have with my plate full of food. I get to start my day with a huge dose of gratitude. How lucky I am to stuff my face within moments of waking.
No. 2: It gives me strength for my day.
I’ve had days where I have to skip breakfast and those do not typically get remembered as great days. If I don’t eat first thing I feel hungry for the rest of the day, no matter how much I eat. I also notice a significant drop in my mental focus and patience. Everything drags on if I don’t start my day with a large dose of calories. Whether my day is full of fun adventures or grueling tasks, that first meal sets the tone for the rest of the day.
No. 3: So many options.
Breakfast is a blast. The options are truly endless for breakfast. Heck, you can have lunch for breakfast if you want! Though I usually do some combination of eggs and carbs, I enjoy throwing in some fruit, yogurt, pastries and fun fruity drinks. Of course coffee counts as part of breakfast and we all know that opens up a whole new world.
No. 4: Dessert in the morning.
In line with having many options, I love that it’s socially acceptable to have dessert for breakfast. Throughout my childhood, I’d start my day with Eggos with Nutella, french toast or a pain au chocolat. I don’t always crave something sweet first thing, but I love knowing it’s an option.
No. 5: Brunch with besties.
Periodically I hear of someone who doesn’t like brunch and I just don’t get it. What’s not to like? Heaping plates of food, booze infused juice and great company! I don’t even mind waiting 45 minutes to get in to the best brunch spots in town, it’s all part of the bonding experience.
